The Love Still Held Me Near [Indie Exclusive Limited Edition Milky Clear/White Galaxy 2LP]
Vinyl: $35.98 Buy
The Love Still Held Me Near was born out of unimaginable loss and the subsequent journey through the grief and heartache that followed. It’s about digging deep down into yourself and attempting to unearth hope and light in the things that can comfort you through those times. For me that has always been writing and recording music, so that’s exactly what I did. - Dallas Green / City and Colour
This historic 1980 Munich concert has the distinction of being the first-ever live, direct-to-digital stereo recording of Zappa. The package features photography and memoir from George Alper (who worked for Frank Zappa), along with liner notes from Arthur Barrow and `Vaultmeister' Joe Travers.

The complete performance is included on two 45rpm 180-gram vinyl LPs and mastered by Bernie Grundman in 2022. The package features photography and memoir from George Alper (who worked for Frank Zappa and was at the event), along with liner notes from Arthur Barrow, Steve Vai and `Vaultmeister' Joe Travers.

Did you know that miracles happen every day? We don’t alwayssee it that way. We look at the state of the world and think, “It’ll be a miracle if we make it out alive.” But miracles are what humans do. We’re Earth’s most inventive and unpredictablespecies, when we’re allowed to be. Also the most destructive. Miracle-Level is Deerhoof’s mystical manifesto on creativity andtrust. It celebrates the infinite small wonders of existence that spontaneously present themselves, when not obstructed by our death-driven masters.
Musically, Miracle-Level is vulnerable, brave, and brimming with spicy surprises. Deerhoof’s 19th album is also their their first tobe recorded and mixed in a recording studio. Production was entrusted to Mike Bridavsky, at No Fun Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This is also their first album written entirely in Satomi’s native language. Deerhoof once again speak in asecret code that only their fans understand, in which hooksabound, and genre is nonexistent.
Underneath his mysterious metal mask, MF DOOM hides the cachet underground legends are made of. After his first group KMD’s sophomore album Black Bastards was shelved by Elektra in 1994, and his blood brother Subroc — one half of the sibling rap duo — passed away, surviving frontman Zev Love X slowly mutated into the supervillain MC known as MF DOOM, and the rap world is better for it.
The 1999 release of Operation: Doomsday marked MF DOOM’s official debut, reintroducing a mysterious figure who would soon become one of underground rap’s greatest voices. Within its 19 tracks, Operation: Doomsday reveals the confluence of DOOM’s tragic past, personal interests and daring creativity. His clever rhymes and remarkable schemes stood out against the landscape, and every sound he touched — from cartoon theme songs, to ‘80s soul, to rap classics and more — got reinterpreted into something brand new and surreal.
Decades later, MF DOOM is still celebrated for all facets of his work and influence. In the face of tragedy, DOOM re-infiltrated the rap game on his own terms, and crafted an instant cult classic. Operation: Doomsday stands as a testament to the power of betting on yourself against all odds.
Scott McMicken has always thrived on switching things up. As a founding member of Philadelphia rock mainstays Dr. Dog, McMicken and his bandmates consistently explored new sounds and new ways of writing songs across 10 gleefully eclectic albums before their 2021 hiatus. While McMicken has quietly released solo projects via cassette and vinyl on his own label Press On Records, for his latest effort, he’s done something he’s only done once before: started a band. With Shabang, out March 31, 2023, via ANTI-, comes the debut album from Scott McMicken and THE EVER-EXPANDING, and he’s made some of his freest and most adventurous music yet: a wonderfully collabora- tive collection of songs that feel lived in and true. By being present and living with these musicians (quite literally: McMicken and collaborator Michael Nau stayed in tents outside the studio) united under one com- mon goal, Shabang is full of life and endlessly candid. “I knew nothing good will come of this unless I am totally free and away from any pres- sure and pretense,” says McMicken. “Such an incredible spectrum of emotion passed through me while making this album. There was this lightness and un-self seriousness. I feel like music and life cruises at that spot: everybody was so wholeheartedly invested and open.”
The 1966 album represented a milestone for The Rolling Stones as it was the first to consist solely of Jagger/Richards original songs. The U.S. version was fleshed out with hit single classics like “Paint It Black,” an eerily insistent #1 hit graced by some of the best-ever use of sitar (played by Brian Jones). Aftermath also strongly features the baroque charm of “Lady Jane.” 180-gram LP.
The #1 Debut Album on black vinyl. Featuring the hits “Baby One More Time” “Sometimes” and “(You Drive Me) Crazy”
“Different Game”, is the long-awaited follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2015 release “Still Got That Hunger”, which charted in Billboard’s Top 100 and SoundScanned over 12k units in America alone.
The band began working on this album in 2019, shortly after their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, but it was delayed by the Pandemic - they strongly prefer to record together and capture a live band performance in the studio (just as they had to do in the 1960’s). They were not willing to make this album remotely.
This album is the current-day Zombies were meant to make. It has the vintage qualities that made them stand out in the 1960’s, yet still sounds modern, and reflects their continued development as songwriters and musicians. 9 of the 10 tracks are written by Rod Argent, with the closer “The Sun Will Rise Again” by Colin Blunstone. Rod produced the album (with engineer Dale Hanson), which includes a small string ensemble on 3 tracks. Rod arranged the strings for 2 of the songs (“Different Game” and “You Could Be My Love”), with the 3rd (“I Want To Fly”) by Chris Gunning (who scored the legendary string arrangements for Colin’s 1971 debut solo album “One Year”).
In a time when the popular choice is to chase the double yellow line down the road to country radio, Boy Named Banjo thrives on its fringes. The Nashville-raised five-piece is a fusion of contemporary country, Americana and folk-rock stacked on a foundation of bluegrass. The band, which has been together in some iteration since members were in high school, includes Barton Davies (banjo), Ford Garrard (bass/standing bass), Sam McCullough (drums) Willard Logan (mandolin, acoustic/electric guitar) and William Reames (acoustic guitar/harmonica). Reames and Logan played in a middle school garage rock band together, but it wasn't until Reames met Davies in high school that Boy Named Banjo started taking shape. Garrard and McCullough joined later and together the five guys comprise the band Boy Named Banjo that we know today. Boy Named Banjo has crafted a sound that incorporates an energetic blend of country, bluegrass, alt-rock, and folk-pop telling their stories through an honest, emotional, roots-driven perspective. In April 2020, Boy Named Banjo signed a record deal with Mercury Records Nashville and released their debut EP, Circles, the following year. Boy Named Banjo spent 2022 on the road playing some of country music’s largest festivals including Dierks Bentley’s Seven Peaks and Country Jam, Kip Moore’s Fire on Wheels Tour, they made their CMA Fest debut playing at the Ascend Amphitheatre Nighttime Concert, and played a sold-out hometown show at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl. The band most recently released the tracks “Heart In Motion” and “Heart Attack,” and is currently prepping its next project to be released in spring of this year.
Archetypes Collide delivers massive hooks, soaked in atmosphere, with creative energy and catchiness in their DEBUT Self Titled LP on Fearless Records. Unapologetic choruses and bang-your-head riffs collide. “My Own Device,” “What If I Fall,” and “Parasite,” combine loud bombast with intimate pop. Archetypes Collide demands repeated listening, mixing everything from Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon to The Chainsmokers, and Stranger Things-style retro synths, into a unique musical identity.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ESSENTIAL Iggy & The Stooges- Raw Power we’re proud to offer the pressing on gold vinyl. Includes both the original 1973 David Bowie mix and the 1997 remix of the album.
Remastered vinyl reissue of the rock supergroup’s debut album from 2001 featuring Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), Duane Denison (Jesus Lizard), John Stanier (Battles, Helmet) and Kevin Rutmanis (Melvins). This is the first time the out-of-print vinyl has ever been available individually.
Vinyl reissue of the rock supergroup’s fourth album from 2013 featuring Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), Duane Denison (Jesus Lizard), John Stanier (Battles, Helmet) and Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle). The album has been out of print for almost ten years and is now back in limited variants.
For Upstate, the past three years have been a litany of transitions as members Mary Webster, Melanie Glenn, Harry D’Agostino and Dylan McKinstry patiently navigated the unfolding hurdles presented by some of life’s most pivotal moments. Amid a whirlwind of marriages, babies, funerals, spiritual awakenings, mourning and celebration, was a long, uncertain pause. Amid the passage, Upstate embraced the chance to make a record that could touch on every corner of their lives, a deeply honest portrait. Indeed, You Only Get A Few, the band’s third studio album due March 31 on Royal Potato Family, is a collection of lilting indie folk—ten songs blossoming from uncertainty and creative collaboration. Shedding old expectations, the album is most authentic to who the group is now, as each member leaned into their most authentic expression of themselves.
Beginning with a long exhale, You Only Get a Few leads into the lo-fi scratchy tape opening of “Lovers & Friends” that feels almost archival, as if we’re dusting off something half-forgotten. The song itself is about recognizing the preciousness of friendship. Many of the album’s songs are set with field recordings made by the band, drawing us into the space from which the songs were created. The simple and elegant arrangement of “Catalpa” begins with the backdrop of spring rain that subtly transitions into the familiar sounds of a summer night. Glenn and Webster’s voices glide over a serene acoustic guitar, singing “Cold march, and I dream of June.” It’s a song about memory, the seasons, and moments of life that aren’t quite solid enough to grip. “Auntie” serves as a reminder to listen to the advice of others and ourselves. It’s drenched in harmony and bold, driving rhythms complemented by the hypnotic, colorful swirl of electric guitar, low-bellied bass, hammond organ, synthesizer, and clarinet. And while much of You Only Get A Few is inspired by the band’s real-life experiences, there are also moments of spontaneous fiction, an idea propelled into something tangible. The Harry D’Agostino-penned “Patty’s Diner” is one such instance, as he tells the story from the perspective of a grieving sister, intent on realizing her late sibling’s dream.
On their third album, Upstate prods and searches, stews and savors, and they let go of as much as they carry throughout each transition. It’s as if there’s a collective breath, and, just as the album begins with an exhale, You Only Get A Few ends with one, too.
Brooklyn-based musician and producer Barrie Lindsay, known simply as Barrie, has a passion for creating left-of-center pop music. She spends her days writing songs and tinkering in Logic, stockpiling her creations in a vast archive of folders and hard drives. When it came time to select the songs for her sophomore LP, Barbara, she narrowed it down to sixteen tracks. As the record came together, it became clear that there would be two separate projects - the first being Barbara, an emotionally charged collection of songs dealing with the loss of a parent, the love of a new partner, and finding one's own identity. The remaining five tracks, which were more light-hearted and o the cu, were compiled into a new project titled 5K.
As an avid runner, Barrie named the EP after the common foot race. The aptly titled lead single, "Races," is a delightful synth-pop track in a unique 12/8 time, built around a bombastic drum kit and giddy key riffs. "Nocturne Interlude" acts as a segue between Barbara and 5K, showcasing a haunting melody amidst dark brass-like synths. Second half highlight "Ghost World" has a distorted guitar riff and classic drum pattern that evokes a forgotten 90's radio b-side. The song was recorded entirely by Barrie herself, serving as her own band on guitar, bass, keys, and drum kit. Even though most people would finish listening to the project front to back before finishing a 5k run, the short, sweet, and melodically rich EP begs to be replayed over and over. With 5K, Barrie show-cases her versatility as an artist, closing the loop between the sounds found on her debut LP Happy To Be Here and her follow-up Barbara.
Samiam are a post punk/indie rock institution. Forming almost three decades ago, the group moulded their unique style playing early on with bands like Jawbreaker, Seaweed, Green Day and Bad Religion.Over the years, they had mainstream radio play with songs like“Capsized”and “She Found You”, released eight full-length albums and continue to play to passionate fans all over the world. Started by Jason Beebout (vocals) and Sergie Loobkoff (guitar) in 1988, the band’s current lineup also features longtime guitarist/vocalist Sean Kennerly as well as more recent additions of bassist Chad Darby and drummer Colin Brooks. They have refined their brand of post-hardcore/alternative/emo/
With Ask, the Amsterdam-based sextet Altin Gün marks an exuberant return to the 70s Anatolian folk-rock sound that characterized their first two albums, On (2018) and Gece (2019). It is also the closest the band have come so far to capturing the infectious energy of their live performances. “We took a very traditional approach to recording a rock album, like in the 70s,” bassist Jasper Verhulst says, with the band using vintage recording equipment to give the set a warm, welcoming sound.
Three dear, old friends and bandmates for over 50 years, Ralph Molina, Billy Talbot and Nils Lofgren, kept writing and recording songs in their homes during the ongoing pandemic and are proud to share this collection of their music. Their lifelong friend and bandmate Neil Young, added a special track to complete this 10 song compilation.
For friends with deep bonds, though at times on different paths, they found that, All Roads Lead Home.
People Talk is the album Lauren Morrow was born to create. The Nashville-based, Atlanta-raised singer-songwriter has spent the better part of the last fifteen years cultivating her sound, pouring in a variety of influences, and honing her live show until the sound felt unabashedly her own. After spending more than a decade as the frontwoman of popular Americana band The Whiskey Gentry, Lauren stepped out with a 2018 self-titled debut EP and received widespread acclaim. She landed on many Best Of year-end lists from Rolling Stone to Garden & Gun, filmed an episode for PBS' "Bluegrass Underground" and toured the US playing festivals such as Pickathon and Bristol Rhythm & Roots. Mixed by Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Jack White, Phish) and Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, Shania Twain), People Talk finds Morrow exploring her beyond-country influences like 90s Alternative, Britpop, and 80s New Wave bands with moody, brutally honest lyrical content and rock n roll attitudes; all with Morrow's signature soprano and vulnerable vibrato and a host of atypically-Americana vibes and tones. The end result is a patiently cultivated and refined sound not unfamiliar to fans, but a pure expression of everything Morrow is made of-- not just what we've seen so far.
